About David Whiddon
This learning playlist was curated by David Whiddon, International Programmes Manager with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). David works with organizations around the world to develop their flood rescue, training, and SAR capabilities to tackle the global drowning epidemic. In recent years, he has worked closely with the Bangladesh Fire and Rescue Service to help develop their flood and water rescue capacity and helped create a number of SAR and flood rescue manuals that are open source on behalf of the RNLI and IMRF. As a RNLI trainer, his subject specialisms are: maritime search and rescue, sea survival, and flood rescue. In addition to the above roles, he has been a volunteer for the ambulance service as a Community First Responder and also for the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team and has deployed to a number of flooding incidents within the UK. David is also exploring with INSARAG, part of UN OCHA the development of global standards for flood response.
